A friend recently called and asked, “So when do you think Obama will declare martial law?” Until last week, I would have dismissed such speculation as conspiratorial. Now I’m not so sure.
Before this phony government “shutdown,” if you had asked whether I believed that American military and law enforcement personnel would follow an order from Barack Obama, or any other president, to turn their guns on their own countrymen, I would have said no. However, after witnessing the behavior of armed National Park Service officers unnecessarily closing our national monuments, parks, and even our military cemeteries in Europe, while simultaneously allowing a protest demonstration by illegal aliens on the National Mall, I am no longer confident in that belief.
It’s as though Obama is using every weapon in his arsenal to create civil division among the people. Why?
The analogy has often been made of Obama and the king in the story, “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” wherein no one in authority will inform the monarch that his new clothing is non-existent and that he is actually walking around in his underwear. Only a child has the innocence and honesty to inform the ruler of his nakedness.
Like that emperor, Barack Obama is a naked despot. For nearly five years, he has acted like a potentate ruling over a nation of serfs, all the while pretending to be clothed in constitutional authority. He and his party of socialists have put this nation on the fast track to financial and cultural destruction, with little or no opposition from the Republican so-called leadership, who are too cowardly, too comfortable or too entrenched to inform the emperor he has no clothes. Witness their gutless capitulation to end this latest standoff. What did they accomplish for the American people? Obama’s signature agenda item is his hideous health care law
Obama’s signature agenda item is his hideous health care law. He will defend it with all the power at his disposal, and it becomes more apparent every day that the current fiasco in the rollout of the program is deliberate. How could the most tech-savvy political campaign in history have evolved into a gang of White House amateurs who can’t even set up a web site? Even by the wasteful standards of Washington, how could hundreds of millions of dollars have bought us this? There can be only one answer: it is deliberate.
For decades, Democrats have entertained the dream of a government-controlled, single-payer health care system. Their most blatant attempt at realizing that dream, prior to Obamacare, came in 1993, when Hillary Clinton tried to impose the most draconian bureaucratic system ever forced on the American people. Under Hillary’s plan, we, the people, would have been herded into health care “zones,” whereby our medical needs would have been dictated and dispensed by federal bureaucrats. Meanwhile, we would have been fined for crossing those geographical lines or for daring to pay out of pocket for our health care.
Hillary’s overreach resulted in such a backlash from voters that even congressional Democrats rejected it. Fast-forward 20 years and we find two major differences. First, after years of propaganda from liberals and their lackeys in the media, a significant number of voters have bought into the fantasy — despite all evidence to the contrary — that the federal government can actually run one-seventh of our economy. Not that Obamacare is popular; quite the contrary. The more we learn about it, the more we hate it. But there were enough voters drinking the Kool-Aid in the last two presidential elections to embolden the forces of the left to keep their socialist dream alive.
The second difference was tactical — and this was key. Unlike Hillarycare, wherein the Clintons attempted a total power grab by the federal government in one fell swoop, Obama and his cronies in Congress realized that they had to accomplish the takeover incrementally. And what better way to do it than to copy a Republican plan (Romneycare in Massachusetts) and then watch it fail miserably on the federal level.
Which brings us back to the deliberate nature of this atrocious, unworkable bill. It was designed to fail, and that failure will provide the excuse for implementing a single-payer plan. It may seem counterintuitive — and it is — but look at how government operates: “This has failed; give us more money.” Anyone who doubts this has only to look at government education.
Scripture tells us that mankind has a fallen nature - so the simple fact may just be that we are incapable of self government on a long term basis.
The writers of our founding documents were brilliant men - probably as brilliant as the world has ever produced - but even they could not have foreseen the lengths and the depths of the utter corruption that we have at the federal government level today.
But on second thought, maybe some of them did:
