Romney fails to realize you not only have to be popular, you have to actually have something worth saying, at least if you’re concerned about more than just winning.

Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press, 2012 Republican presidential Mitt Romney defended New Jersey governor Chris Christie, whom it was reported last week was vetted and turned down by the Romney campaign for vice president. “Chris could easily become our nominee and save our party and help get this nation on the right track again,” Romney said of Christie. “They don’t come better than Chris Christie.”

Romney said that his concerns about Christie in 2012 no longer applied: “I know in a campaign people drudge up all the old stuff again, but he’s already dealt with it. His health is very solid, very good. There’s not an issue there….He’s a very popular governor in a very blue state. That’s the kind of popularity and the kind of track record the Republican party needs if we’re going to take back the White House.”

I dunno folks..he is from my area and they sure do like him here. I think he could win..and I dont think he is that bad. Look at what we have been dealing with...even Joe bite me is better then obastid. Christie speaks his mind..and it isnt beneath him to kiss a little ass to get what he wants for his state.

This is the problem and why we dont win..the party is divided..everybody is a rino...have you ever heard democrats call any of their candidates or politicians dinos? This is why the republicans get nowhere..they are too busy fighting amongst themselves.

I think, at this point in time, to get rid of the dems...even Mickey Mouse would do. Christie seems to be well known..and can win. Who do you guys want? Another McLame or Romney? We knew they wouldnt win. These are the losers the party is choosing. I think even THEY knew they wouldnt win. I dont think Christie can do any worse than anyone we have had living in that white house lately. In my opinion, we need to go with a winner. I think if conservatives vote republican, they should support who ever is running...or just form another party. This divided party doesnt work and republicans will never win. Although, I really dont care anymore...because my interest came with obamacare..and if nobody can get rid of that..it doesnt matter to me who wins..since they all seem alike.

They wont win. I was reading on FR this morning..and all but one person had the same opinion of christy as is said here. The one guy was pointing out why Christy is a reasonable candidate. (I am sure he is headed for ZOT city.) Others there want Cruz. He will never win. The majority of republicans dont like him.

I knew Romney wouldnt win. I had hopes, when he was filling rooms..but reading at other conservative sites, I knew most didnt vote for him. There was one on the FR site today, saying they would vote for Hillary if Christy ran..lol And this is WHY republicans dont win elections. They are too busy fighting with each other and nit picking the candidate to death. I am guessing they prefer the democrat over a so called rino..Democrats win because they will vote and support whomever is running. Take a look at the DU. You ever see them putting down their candidate?

So..ya think Christy is worse than Hillary? Because thats who I think is next.

Romney not winning was a foregone conclusion on FR. FreeRepublic never would have been an accurate measure of his chances. Robinson loathes Romney more than the devil himself.

At some point, we need to get it through our collective heads that this isn't some sports contest. Yay - our team wins. Rah rah rah.
