Quote: Cedric wrote in post #11 They can't run around imperiously calling themselves "Constitutionalists" and then pull a stunt like this with impunity.
They can't run around threatening the heretical establishment and then claim the Tea Party has no orthodoxy with which to judge heresy.
They can't thump their chests, bragging about their political clout when it suits them and then claim there isn't even a "definition that covers what the Tea Party is or isn't".
Sure they can. They can label themselves patriots, run around, thump their chests and make a scene. It's theater.
Like Mama Grizzly and her bus tour of the Northeast.
This stuff doesn't mean a lot. The left can point and laugh at it. You can point and laugh at it. You can ignore it.
Just like I ignore EVERYTHING that Governor Palin does. I don't take her seriously.
I know you pay attention to the actions and votes of the House and Senate. The gears of government are moving accordingly. This meets your approval. All is right with the world.
Palinista doesn't care for Palin....priceless
Heres where I'm stuck. The TP on one hand wants to be recognized as a cohesive group to be reckoned with unless one faction does something dumb. Then they are humble individuals who are not governed by the whole.
There exists a TP Caucus that does not include all TP favorites as members. The mangled message and lone còwboy way they often portray themselves as tug them in opposite directions. Their biggest defense to the problem they created is almost always cry victim and portray fellow conservatives as monsters....Mark Levin a prime example.

Have you ever wondered why I don't post Palin articles and ignore commenting on her?
I have never seen the Tea Party as a cohesive group.
I'll tell you why.
Michelle Bachmann. The woman grates on my nerves. She wrapped herself in the Tea Party mantle. I get that. But then she says strange things that leave me very puzzled.
I don't get too worked up about her because she doesn't represent me. But then there are others that do bring good ideas to the table.
I follow ideas, not people. So the lone cowboy image doesn't bother me. The idea of cohesiveness is a good place to start. I watch, but I'm not enthusiastic.
We're talking about POLITICIANS for goodness sakes!
I just focus on my state and 2016.
Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Mike Huckabee, Bill O'Reilly, FOX News' evening line up. All of these people make a living on the scandal of the day, political theater and doom and gloom.
I don't listen to them and I don't watch them.
When Bill Clinton won his second term my dear mother listened to Rush Limbaugh the next morning. Rush was railing against Clinton and what was going to happen in the next four years.
My mother heard a caller make the observation that Rush was going to do well during the next four years on his radio show. His audience would flock to him to hear a counter message to Clinton.
I never forgot my mother telling me this story because there is the political theater that we can see in Washington and then there are those that make a livelihood off of it.
And then there are message boards where we can discuss it.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
"If people can’t trust not only the executive branch but also don’t trust Congress, and don’t trust federal judges, to make sure that we’re abiding by the Constitution with due process and rule of law, then we’re going to have some problems here." - Barack Obama, June 7, 2013

Good example. I think you stand alone in that crowd. Which I respect. Too many times, here on a discussion board, any one questions a TP move and it's like walking into enemy territory.

Which is ironic. I think if you can't discuss the ideas that are within the Tea Party, Republican or Democratic parties you aren't learning anything.
I come here to interact and learn. I don't come here to cheer for my congressman. I don't post articles about when he does something right or wrong. Because he doesn't really matter.
What matters are the ideas. He doesn't have any. He gets elected and then votes as he likes. He isn't a barnstormer and no one knows his name.
So when Gowdy, Paul or Cruz push an issue and ideas are discussed I'm more engaged. The people of South Carolina, Kentucky and Texas can be more emotionally invested in these men. I'm not. Even when they make mistakes. I don't worry.
I think there were people that posted here who saw themselves as members of a team. They want their team to win.
I get that. But I'm more of a spectator.
And TRUTHFULLY, I think they were as well. There is a lot of bluster but I don't believe many people on internet discussion boards have any access to the levers of power. They vote. They watch. And they bitch.
