This morning Obama said that to not increase the debt ceiling would be irresponsible and said if the GOP doesn’t raise it, we won’t be able to pay social security and we might not be able to pay our troops. He then lists a whole litany of “horrible things” that would happen if the debt ceiling doesn’t get raised that makes Armageddon sound like it’s right around the corner.
He then proceeds to blame the GOP for the credit downgrade, saying that it happened because during the last fight over the debt ceiling, Republicans flirted with the idea of not raising it. So, he’s added close to 6 trillion dollars in debt in his first 4 years and yet he blames Republicans for the credit downgrade? Wow.

It's been too long since Bush was in office to blame him anymore. But blaming others has been such a powerful tool in his hands that it's difficult for him to just let go of Geo W. So now he's found a new whipping boy! It will from now on be the House Republicans.

But he won the election partly based on his blaming Bush for the economy, and his stupid voters' believing it.
How can we make any progress with this level of ignorance?
I'm more and more convinced that the economy is going to have to completely collapse before the majority of Americans understand what a horrible President Obama is.
And even then, there will be a large number who blame it on Bush or the House Republicans.
I agree that the economy will have to collapse for the ignorant to get it. Seriously, many of them weren't even born when Carter was president. Some lessons are best learned from the college of hard knocks. When cell phones are considered an entitlement then the down and out haven't really experienced what real hard times are like.
