This afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced a potential filibuster deal that, among other problematic provisions, limits post-cloture debate on federal district court nominees (and non-Cabinet-level officials).
Senators currently have up to 30 hours of post-cloture debate on the merits of a district court nominee; the new rule would permit only two hours. This proposal would seriously undermine the rights of sitting senators to call attention to problematic district court nominees and, as a consequence, would enable the President to make more philosophically questionable and professionally unqualified nominations in the future.

I'm joking of course. Just saying that the Democrats will cry and scream like little girls when this is used against them.

I have little faith that the Republicans will not come up with a new compromise that appears to benefit them, but in fact damages all of us in the process.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.

For years I looked at politics like a game - or a sport. Team A - the democrats, vs. Team B - the republicans. Then you had the refs - a.k.a. the media who insured (at the very least) that the rules were followed.
I knew it was never a perfect analogy, but this last election has shown me that it doesn't apply at all (in the sense we would like it to). Instead, what you have is this: Team A and Team B are on the same team - The Statist's Team. The Statist's team has its own cheerleaders - a.k.a. the lapdog press.
Team A and Team B do NOT oppose each other; rather their opposition (such as it is) is us - defined as anyone who is a productive citizen.
This is the situation as I see it. History shows that when societies and cultures reach this juncture, the resultant outcomes are limited and usually involve violence. We're passed the point (in my opinion) where elections are going to "fix" anything.
Hence my "Titanic" comment.
I see our culture as a rusted out hulk, laying in pieces on an ocean floor. Even if it were possible to raise it, it probably won't survive the journey to its ultimate destination.

If it was simple stupidity, they would occasionally make an error in our favor.
Just sayin...
"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." - Ecclesiastes 10:2
The DC denizens in both parties consider the Tea Party and Conservative voters the real "low info" voters. That is why absolutely stupid deals like this are constantly struck and then sold to us as some sort of great thing.
