I would normally agree with you, but after seeing what was going on behind the scenes in the Romney campaign and the incompetent stooges he had working for him, I think '12 was an issue of a bad candidate/campaign. To this very day Romneys "Get Out The Vote" team believes they did a great job because they CALLED 14 million people even though they double called people in that number and in the end didn't actually do anything to get people to the polls like the Rats did. It showed they learned nothing from Zero in '08. If a GOP candidate can actually get a decent GOTV, half as effective as the Rats, we will be in solid shape.

It cannot be said enough that Romney was an ineffective loser with a bad campaign. Rupert Murdoch and others who wet with Romney over the summer telegraphed how bad it was inside. All you need to look at is his refusal to go after Zero on Benghazi and Obamacare.

It is a tough one to figure out, that's for sure. I have no hard data for any of this, not sure that anyone does, so a lot of what's been rolling around in my head is subjective.

Given that Romney's campaign sucked in some regards and that he shied away from a few killer issues as you suggest, what I was watching over the summer and into the fall were HUGE turnouts all over the country, almost everywhere he and Ryan went. The media never covered it, we got our info from first hand sources and the alternative media. Heck, just focus in on Ohio, my family members attended numerous rallies that were filled up 4-5 hours before the start, they stood in lines hundreds of yards away just to hear the program on PA speakers. And it was the same in numerous states all around the country.

And also figure in this: this was the same AMERICA that went out in the 2010 off-year races and voted firmly to install a GOP House, governors, and state legislatures all over the country in record numbers! And, it wasn't like things got "better" in the subsequent 2 years, if anything as more and more AMERICANS saw the encroaching and hardening tyranny almost EVERY freakin' day coming out of this regime, you would have thought that the proverbial orange juice can would have trounced this demon.

What are we supposed to believe? That this large and growing block of AMERICANS all decided to stay home? That they decided to keep in the monster rather than a Mormon?

It just didn't add up to me, never has. And if I factor in the sham election night "coverage" -- all of those states being "called" with 2-3% of the precincts reported -- it was obvious that this one was to be put to bed real fast. And beyond the overt "rush, rush, hush, hush" that I watched and heard, I had a bad "in my gut" feeling as it played out, not sure if anyone else had it, don't really know how to explain it. But my "inner self" was telling me almost from about 9PM EST onward, "you are witnessing a highway rorbbery here, man!"

For Christ sake. His sweater vest? Really? Beyond that, he ran because he HAS 8 kids. In an interview with Glenn Beck last year, he and his wife said they decided to run because they were scared shitless about Obamacare and what it would do to their kids in the future. When his daughter got sick, he suspended his campaign. Santorum isn't even the point. The point is that a candidate that you think was a nobody loser was giving Romney a serious run for his money. Mitt blew on all levels other than being rich and being able to self finance. Did you forget all the calls in the middle of the Primaries, around March after Santorum won three states in a row, where elected RINOS were openly calling for the RNC to somehow install another RINO candidate to replace Romney?

It wasn't monster against Mormon. It was the guy people generally like with terrible policies against a woman killing, tax cheating, Swiss bank account, corporate raider fat cat. The Rats made Romney a monster early on and Mitt didn't do a damn thing to fight it. He let the release of the tax records linger on and on. He let Bain be an issue instead of unemployment. He couldn't effectively defend his wealth. Add that complacency with the fact he constantly undercut his own argument to repeal Obamacare by saying he was going to just tinker with it, and it didn't give the Low Info crowd an excuse to throw the first black dude out of the WH.

Ronald Reagan spoke of discarding pale pastels in favor of bold colors to give voters a choice. Romney was a nice light turquoise or pink.

The media buried the differences between the two and Romney did not drive his message effectively.

I remember there was an interview that the Romneys gave. Ann Romney said, "It's Mitt's turn." She shouldn't have said that. She should have said WHY she believed it was Mitt's turn. At every opportunity the Romneys needed to make the case and sell Mitt Romney to the American people. I don't believe they did that. They disappointed me.

I disagree with the notion of "if we just had the RIGHT candidate".

The problem isn't the candidates. It's the electorate.

We all laughed at the idea of Sandra Fluke and her charge of a "war on women". We all laughed at the ridiculousness of the charge that Romney basically "murdered" some guy's wife. We all laughed at the idiot Reid on the Senate Floor charging the he "had it on good authority" that Romney hadn't paid his taxes for years and years.

We all laughed - but the majority didn't. They bought it - hook, line and sinker.

We are far, far past the point where elections are going to fix anything.

We (as a country) are dead. The only thing left is the burial.

Sorry for being a downer, but I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

During Watergate there must have been people who were demoralized who believed that we would never recover. When JFK, RFK and King were assassinated people must have been so despondent and worried about the direction of our country. After the Civil War and the assassination of Lincoln there surely were people who thought that our country was being tested to its breaking point.

It would be very sad to think that the punk known as Obama will be our downfall, today. We've survived worse than him in the past.

I don't think we can even assume that the electorate is the problem. With computerized voting and political control of the counting process, we really have no idea whether the election results are real or not.

We take it on faith that they are 'real', but that's an assumption that I am increasingly reluctant to make...

Right there is a huge problem. The stuff we laughed at was left to be repeated over and over and over and over and over. It either turned off people as evidenced by the lower voter turnout than '08 or swayed Low Info voters when the issues were allowed to be molded by the MSM and Rats unchallenged. You are right that the electorate is a bunch of dopes. That is why we need to retune out message to reach them. As you can see from what Zero did to win, it ain't that hard.
