Woodward has already made his name in journalism and doesn't need the administration to "help" him with source material.

Woodward may be a liberal journalist, but he puts his profession in front of his ideology on occasion.
If it was VJ that sent the message, Woodward will burn her at the stake. Watch for it.

His integrity in the journalistic field is high enough that others would jump on that bandwagon for a little exposure and coat-tailing.

The word on the street is that it was Gene Sperling that had the one-hour scream at Woodward on the telephone and sent the email. (I still suspect that VJ gave the word.)

Of course, the attack on Woodward is emerging (meme is that he is "senile"), Plouffe tweets:

And the discussion in the beltway is over the meaning of the word "regret." (The suggestion is that you will merely "regret" that your opinion/sources are wrong. Nothing scary here, just normal "insider DC" speak, move along plebes.)
