Especially since for various individual reasons some women just can't breast feed !
As far as smoking, I was always a considerate smoke...however, since the banning, people look at you like you are a criminal...they have their rights..but you dont. Even my own children (except one, since the husband smokes) dont mind seeing me outside in single digit weather if I want to smoke. Both my parents smoked..and I couldnt imagine sending them outside..lol However, I am still considerate, I either go out..or dont smoke. I dont even smoke in my own house when they are here. But, none of this was the point I was trying to make. The smoking ban was the beginning.
The problem with the NY Nazi and his soda ban was/is...its limited to certain places. He could NOT ban grocery stores from selling the 2 liter bottles. When he realized this, he quickly tried to call on the governor for this. However, when all this ban talk began, and they questioned the governor, he just shrugged and said..well, when they choose another mayor it can be overturned. It looked like he wanted nothing to do with this.
The whole thing is ridiculous, because you can just buy several containers. And there are a lot more sugary things out there so where does it stop?
As far as nursing mothers, when I had kids, I dont think they even gave us formula to take home. A few bottles of milk arent going to make any mother change their mind on nursing. Some people cant do it and some people dont want to. He can keep his freaking forumla..it wasnt even a days worth.
I cant believe the changes in this country during my lifetime and not for the better. People had better wise up if they want their children and grandchildren to enjoy the freedoms that my generation did. Its to the point when someone says we live in a free country, I roll my eyes.

On trueblueliberty I remember discussing the formula issue.
Dingbat lucysmom was amazed when I told her that expectant mothers plan accordingly in the weeks before giving birth. They talk to their spouse, their mother, their friends and their obstetrician. Many of them already are mothers and they will talk about it with the pediatrician that they take their older children to. A mother rarely makes the decision about breast feeding when she is a captive in the hospital on the maternity floor.
Thinking women know that mothers and their newborns go directly home from the hospital. They do not go to the grocery store.
They have the nursery, layette and formula waiting for them at home because some choose not to breast feed. Others are concerned that they will be unable to breast feed and they know that feeding their baby is one of their highest priorities that they have planned for.
Dingbat lucysmom said to me. "Well! A lot has changed since I gave birth."
Women who willingly give up their autonomy to the state are endangering the health and wellness of their children.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
When I had my firstborn (1967), my obgyn said to me..you arent going to breast feed..are you? It wasnt forced upon anyone...and most women didnt. Out of all of my friends, I think one breastfed the rest didnt. My daughters and my daughter in law..also did not.
Its none of anybodys business what a woman chooses to do, especially a male mayors. And yes, you have that formula waiting for you when you get home. All you had to do..even in 1967 was mix it with water..poof, done. Its no big deal if the NY Nazi takes away the few bottles they were giving.
