Robert Bork, former federal judge and Supreme Court nominee, has died, his family confirms to FoxNews.com.
Family members said Bork, 85, died early Wednesday morning. He had a history of heart problems and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a lung condition.
His funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
Bork was among the most polarizing figures in American law and conservative politics for more than four decades. When Bork was solicitor general in 1973, he fired Archibald Cox as a special prosecutor on the order of President Richard Nixon to help in the Watergate cover-up.
President Ronald Regan nominated Bork to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1987. In a 58-to-42 vote, the Senate rejected his nomination -- it was by one of the widest margins in U.S. history.
Republicans have long said his defeat was a completely partisan move and have said Bork was one of the greatest conservative figures in history.
Bork's grandson, Robert Bork III, recalled fond memories of his grandfather, in an interview with FoxNews.com Wednesday morning.
"Even in his old age, he was just a great person to talk to. He was open to conversation, and I looked forward to seeing him," he said. "We were planning to see him for Christmas."
If you haven't read his book .. 'Slouching Towards Gomorrah', you should put it on your Must Read list! (I need help from Quix on how not to be 'hatin' on filthy, scum sucking liberals!)

Excellent book.
And written before the obvious truth of his words was so...............self-evident.
Did anyone other than me hear Mark Levin's fine tribute to Mr Bork today? Mark had a personal/professional relationship with Mr Bork while working in the Reagan WH and was a great admirer of Mr Bork. But what really caught my attention was how Mark compared the treatment of the death of Mr Bork with that one of America's premiere scum buckets, and rabid anti-Bork zealot, Ted "The Hero of Chappaquidick" Kennedy.
Mark noted that while listening to the radio he heard no mention of the death of Mr Bork on ABC. He compared that to the extended coverage and excessive encomiums which occurred when that worthless drunk coward Kennedy died.
In Mark's comparison we can see a clear snapshot of what ails our country.

I was listening to that on the drive home. It cannot ever be forgotten to remind people at every turn that Bork was absolutely treated like garbage from a womanizing, woman killing, drunk POS Kennedy. You would never hear that from the corrupt MSM. This dovetails nicely with comments I made about Danial Inouye who just kicked the bucket and the MSM was all in with the fawning praise and constantly citing he was a war hero even though there were active charges against him that equaled rape and he made that absurd, disgraceful speech at the Iran Contra fiasco. This isn't a coincidence.
