I don’t mean to sound rude and all, but considering the evidence we’ve seen so far, are Trayvon’s parents trying to cash in on their son’s death? I understand the magnitude of their loss and their need to grieve, but why in the world would a Home Owner’s Association be liable for anything?

I don’t know what was said but $1 million is a ton of cash and I’m guessing they didn’t want Al Sharpton leading marches in their neighborhoods:

FOX NEWS – Trayvon Martin’s parents have settled a wrongful death claim for an amount believed to be more than $1 million against a Florida homeowners association where their teen son was killed, Fox News confirms.

Trayvon was shot and killed by Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26, 2012.

Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder, but he says he fired in self defense after the 17-year-old attacked him.

In paperwork made public, both parties specified that they would keep the settlement amount confidential, The Orlando Sentinel reported.

“It is understood and agreed that the payment made herein is not to be construed as an admission of any liability by or on behalf of the releasing parties; but instead the monies being paid hereunder is consideration for avoiding litigation, the uncertainties stemming from litigation as well as to protect and secure the good name and good will of the released parties,” the settlement said.

I think they are cashing in. I'm not surprised.

The HO Association had nothing to do with the settlement ....that is why insurance premiums are paid.

We all know the parents were out for the cash and FAST !! And.....the insurers were only too happy to throw them the $1M plus to go away !!

At the cost of litigation today, the insurers made out like bandits !!

Hope the parents ENJOY their LOTTO take !!

Personally, I wouldn't be able to spend a dime of it !!

The Martin family will need the settlement cash to defend themselves in court. Those schemers are in for a world of hurt.
