There�s a Texas Republican who vocally stated that he supported background checks to keep guns away from those who shouldn�t have them. And an assault weapons ban.

Don�t believe it?

Former President George W. Bush said he supported background checks during the 2000 and 2004 presidential debates. Check out the video proof posted by Buzzfeed.

George the first is the man that stopped the import of the Uzi. Like father like son. They are typical northerners.

I am not a republican I am a conservative, and supporter of the rule of law. And refuse to support any of Roves dopes.

The Justice Department filed briefs before the Supreme Court Monday that argue the Constitution "broadly protects the rights of individuals" to own firearms. This reverses the official position of the government for more than 60 years--including the Republican administrations of Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Candidate George W. Bush didn't conceal his opposition to stricter gun controls, though his campaign was embarrassed by NRA boasts that it planned to set up an office in the White House. With Ashcroft at Justice, that has hardly been necessary.

Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft, who, to his credit, has been straightforward about his position on gun control: He opposes it, practically under any circumstances.

Shortly after taking office, Ashcroft sought to roll back FBI record-keeping of gun sales from 90 days to 24 hours. He said that gun owners' privacy might be compromised, which is but an echo of the NRA line that argues record-keeping amounts to de facto federal gun registration.

It isn't just Conservatism. It is the whole damn party top to bottom. When a party has two consecutive nominating conventions and specifically excludes a two term President from attending because he is so radioactive, he was a disaster.

W was written off by many simply because he would not defend himself. The bunker mentality took over and him and his staff just hunkered down, with the possible exception of Cheney. I was personally disgusted by that behavior. Not only did it weaken him it allowed the MSM and the Dem machine to grow stronger and allow the actions that have caused us to be in the current condition of the country. Americans do not like someone that will not fight for themselves. W will not be considered a great President in 100 years. History will not be kind to his legacy. Iraq will be a mess within the next five years. Afghanistan will be the feudal slum it was before we spent treasure and lives on it and the tyranny enabled by the Patriot Act will casue a great deal off suffering on our future citizens.

I could list all of the things W did to hurt both conservaties and the country but you all know what they are.

I don't think Bush was brave, he ushered in a new wave of cowardice and fear after 9/11. You cannot get on a plane without being molested first, thank GWB. America never recovered from 9/11 and he was to blame for a good part of that.
