The NYS SAFE Act is billed as a necessary law to protect the public and keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people.

But Hamburg attorney Jim Tresmond says his client was notified by letter that his gun permit was suspended upon the recommendation of State Police, who learned the man is on anti-anxiety medication.

Officials confirmed state law permits the suspension of a gun permit before the permit holder even gets a chance to state their case.

I read the posts at fr on this topic. The fact is the shooters in 99% of the mass killings were on some sort of mind altering drugs. So maybe the man should not own firearms. Something has to be done about the people with mental problems, so what do you do?

I don't know the answer to this, I do know, working in HR, tons of people (mostly their wives) were taking prozac or some other anti-anxiety meds - we found out when they answered questions on the life insurance form. I can't imagine they would be a threat to society but I was surprised just how many people were on some kind of anti-anxiety meds.

It does seem all the mass shooters were loonies and on some kind of med but they weren't "average", they had a really bad history of mental problems.

The other question is what proof that this anti-anxiety medication causes people to go on shooting sprees?

I think liberals have overplayed their hands with this one. Once lots of stories start appearing in the media about arbitrary gun permit denials, people will turn against them.

Only if diagnosed and medicated

I really know very little about medications, but in all the commercials they say the meds lead to either more depression and suicide thought or the start of them. Creepy stuff.

I am just an old country boy, we did not have that problem or attention deficit, what ever years ago, and my mother had eleven kids.
