Representative Steve King, a 63-year-old Iowa Republican, is restless and irritated, and it shows. He’s here, stewing in a hearing room in the Rayburn building, because he and his friends in the House’s tea-party bloc feel disconnected from the debate on comprehensive immigration reform. “A number of us have sat back and watched with amazement as some of our colleagues have leapt to erroneous conclusions,” King says, sitting alongside five other staunch opponents of legalization efforts. “But we are where we are with the momentum in the Republican party.”
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
Rubio is sailing the GOP off the clift with his 100% amnesty program. And you people in flyover land are too dumb to object. Maybe mr king and his gaing can do something. But mr speaker has gotten his payoff and is dancing to the organ grinder, nice monkey.
I am not a republican I am a conservative, and supporter of the rule of law. And refuse to support any of Roves dopes.
From the artice: "A lot has changed in six years. In 2007, when Congress was last trying to pass an immigration bill...."
Yup.
The wackos on the far Right have so expanded the definition of and speed with which is assigned the label of RINO (and all the hateful threats that come with it) that many GOP politicians are now saying, "What the hell, why should I do anything to please the fringe kooks? Their "gratitude" will only last 2.86 seconds anyway, so by lunch time for sure they'll be outside my office again with their pitchforks, callin' me a traitor over some other issue, so why bother tryin' to please these people?"
{And, please, spare me the "they should stand on principle" rant.}

I don't owe my senators gratitude. They owe me representation and defense of my rights. That's what I elected them for.
I did not elect them for bipartisan games that twist my government into a monster that eats my liberties with a voraciousness that is only surpassed by how much of my money they can take from me and spend in a given year.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.

Not! In fact just the opposite.
Zitat King and his crew are not driving the negotiations, and they increasingly feel like outsiders within their own party. “The meetings of the Gang of Eight and the secret meetings in the House of Representatives — the people who have been standing up for the Constitution and the rule of law haven’t been invited to those meetings,” King tells the assembled group of reporters.
And, are you really excusing their actions on being called names???

I don't buy Peter King saying that he's an outsider and standing up for the Constitution.
I distinctly remember an article where he and Senator Collins were quoted talking about what legislative action could be taken after Newtown.
He forgot that he was supposed to defend the Bill of Rights.
I really believe that these men and women on the Hill carefully trim around the edges of our rights. They have a huge game plan. And while one has the scissors in his hand, trimming the 2nd Amendment, their colleague is attacking another God-given right. Everything is set up as being complex and handled by learned gentlemen and gentlewomen who care and have our best interests at heart. They deflect and bluster with their chests puffed out. They do not stand up for us on every single issue. They are mostly interested in their power and bank accounts.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.

This is Steve King (pretty much a polar opposite of Peter King).
