WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver a statement at 6 p.m. regarding the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative groups for special review.
The president will make his remarks after discussing the IRS matter with Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew and his top deputy, Neil Wolin.
Obama has been under pressure to act in the aftermath of acknowledgement by top IRS officials that conservative groups were improperly singled out. An investigation by a Treasury inspector general found that the IRS used inappropriate criteria that identified for review tea party and other conservative groups that were seeking tax exempt status.
Well, the big question now is whether the Regime still has any credibility left. If they do, this was a masterstroke and this issue will disappear tomorrow. If Zero doesn't have any credibility, this will be seen as a hackish attempt to look above it all and that nothing was really done other than a WH flailing to get this off the headlines.
