The Obama administration will be bracing itself for a torrent of hostile questions this morning following the apparent revelation that the National Security Agency has been data-mining the phone records of tens of millions of ordinary Americans.

We will see how mad people really are about this when VERIZON loses so many users that they go out of business

Let's not forget, both parties love this stuff. The GOP was all for this stuff under Bush and the Rats hated it and now it is vise versa. The Patriot Act needs to be ended. It is a failure. Look no further than the Boston bombing for proof.

It's both obviously Freudian and maddeningly effective.

Now, it's clear why the Dems were constantly screaming about Bush's (alleged) abuses of the Patriot Act.

I wasn't a Democrat when the Patriot Act was passed and I am not one today.

I started screaming about the Patriot Act when I learned what was in it.

I knew that any power we granted to the Executive during any administration, be it Republican or Democrat, would be abused in the future.

Bad law is bad law, no matter which Congress passes it, or which president signs it.

What abuses? What they are doing is perfectly legal because of this shit sandwich Bush cobbled together after 911. Our concerns that there were no limits to the feds power were considered unpatriotic by the GOP. This thing was going to save lives. Well, tell that to the family of the kid that was blown up in Boston.

The fact that the worthless GOP still supports this loser just shows that they are nothing more than a depository for Progressive hacks. They love the power it holds to have a tool like this. Further proof they are is that even though the IRS has been exposed as a fully corrupt political tool, Boner and McConnell still haven't called for the ending of the IRS in favor of a flat or fair tax. Know why? Because they want to control this monster when they are back in power. They are all frauds.

That was old fashioned human intelligence. Man on ground in Russian Intelligence sends warning up the chain of command, they send warning to American Intelligence counterparts.

What happens next? American Intelligence ignores alert, favoring instead to continue decades old fascination with assembling gazillions upon gazillions of digital bits and bytes, only to have no clue what to do with all the stuff.

Supposedly the NSA has been gathering the data all along. Or the DCI, or some other alphabet soup group.

I'm not too worried they'll come after me, unless I say "Tea Party" too much over the phone.

More and more, I reflect on Eisenhower's warning about the military-Industrial complex, who derive $ billions of revenue for writing computer programs and building devices to accumulate all this largely useless data.

America is buried under a mountain of information and data, and has lost sight of how or even why priorities and good judgment are important.
