Obama’s game plan in Afghanistan is the same as in Iraq. Claim that the mission has been accomplished and then pull out. And the goal of the Taliban isn’t just to take Kabul after the Americans leave, but to make it clear that Obama didn’t voluntarily withdraw, but that he was forced to pull out. That is why we’re seeing bigger and riskier attacks happening deep in what was supposed to be safe territory.
ZitatLarge explosions and machine-gun fire were heard early Monday in an attack on the military side of Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan, which houses a NATO command headquarters. There was no immediate word on casualties.
Kabul police told NBC News that they estimated as many as 10 suicide attackers had taken up in a building under construction near the airport. An Afghan army general told The Associated Press that the attackers were firing on the military facility from there.
Afghan National Army forces were resisting the attack, which began before 5 a.m. local time, or 8:30 p.m. Sunday ET.
Capt. Luca Carniel of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force told NBC News that the force was aware of the attack at the airport and that the military was assessing the situation. The airport is used by both civilians and the military. On the military side, the NATO command headquarters runs day-to-day operations in the Afghan war. Most foreign combat troops are to be out of the country by the end of 2014, leaving Afghan forces to cope with insurgents.
This is about as close as the Taliban can come to hitting the campaign HQ of the other side. And it’s attacks like these that make Obama’s claims that Afghanistan is ready to be handed over to Karzai’s security forces… a farce.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
"If people can’t trust not only the executive branch but also don’t trust Congress, and don’t trust federal judges, to make sure that we’re abiding by the Constitution with due process and rule of law, then we’re going to have some problems here." - Barack Obama, June 7, 2013

Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
