The Senate is moving to make metal theft a federal crime, with the Judiciary Committee poised to take action later this week on a bill that would impose a 10-year prison sentence on anyone caught stealing metal from telephone or cell towers, highway equipment or other critical infrastructure. Copper theft is a particular problem, with the average annual price on global markets quadrupling over the past decade.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
"If people can’t trust not only the executive branch but also don’t trust Congress, and don’t trust federal judges, to make sure that we’re abiding by the Constitution with due process and rule of law, then we’re going to have some problems here." - Barack Obama, June 7, 2013
Maybe Gov. Perry is right - if they only met for a few months every other year like the Texas legislature does, they would do a better job. How the heck is copper theft a federal issue?
A bureaucrat is someone who creates problems to justify his existence. If they only were in office half or a qurter of the time they wouldn't be able to create as many "problems".
This has gotten out of hand so badly!!!
The bureaucracy: the new fourth branch of government. The bureaucracy is permanent, unaccountable, unelected and choking us like a weed. The bureaucrat exists, generating nothing of value, using perceived problems to justify his existence.

at 1:17 a utility spokesman called the fatality "...so unfortunate" adding "we always try to educate our customers about the dangers and we post warning signs at all of our substations"
this was a copper thief you idiot!!! he probably wasn't even a customer!!!
I'd like to hear a spokesman say: "While this tragedy was indeed unfortunate, this bozo got what he deserved."
