Marco is dead to me. Defending this massive govt' hand out with lies and spin is absolutely the worst move he could ever make. It shows that everything he said in '10 to get elected was nothing but bold faced lies from a slick power hungry politician...
ZitatYou may remember lessons when you were a child by your parent or Sunday School teacher that doing bad things leads to a life of ruin. That telling one little white lie often leads to other lies to cover up the first one, which can lead to worse things.
Which brings me to my disappointment in Marco Rubio and how he came to support the very policies he attacked liberal and now Democrat Charlie Crist for supporting in 2010.
By now, we all know that in 2010, Crist supported amnesty and Rubio attacked him for it. While some of us will be able to forgive Marco Rubio’s rather rapid shift toward the very position he once vocally opposed, others probably will not be so forgiving.
But that breach of trust has led to a much larger transgression.
The initial conservative uproar against Crist and the reason people flocked to support Rubio was Crist’s hug of Obama and support of Obama’s stimulus policies.
Rubio rightly ridiculed Crist and Obama for believing the government creates jobs by taxing and spending. Remember the hug?
Like many of us, Rubio’s rhetoric expanded to a larger critique of the Obama Administration and the way it played politics to pass Obamacare in the Senate — kickbacks, or what amounted to legal bribery between Senators to buy their votes for the plan from the Louisiana Purchase to the Cornhusker Kickback.
Today, Rubio has gone in 180 degrees and embraced those things he rejected in 2010; the rejection of which made him a senator in the first place.
His office blasted this out in support of the immigration bill and defending the $1.5 billion boondoggle stimulus called the Youth Jobs Program that was written by Bernie Sanders (a man who has described himself as a socialist) :
ZitatThe jobs program for young Americans does not cost any taxpayer money. It is being funded directly by a new fee that foreigners will pay when they’re applying for visas. This program is being created because of concerns about American kids competing with foreign workers for low-skill jobs, so to protect them, foreign workers will pay for job training programs for American youth.
So, let me get this straight.
Rubio and Gang of 8 supporters are admitting that amnesty for 11 million illegal immigrants will deprive American citizens job opportunities and drive down their wages. So instead of walking away from this bill and lowering taxes or removing regulations or reducing government spending or promoting school choice or any other dozens of conservative ideas to promote a better economy and better future for youth, Marco and the 14 other Republicans are embracing a socialist-authored government spending stimulus program. And to top it off, they claim to want to encourage foreigners to immigrate here but will create a new penalty tax them for doing so? WHAT?!?!
So Marco Rubio now believes that government stimulus programs create jobs? Why stop at $1.5 billion? The economy is in shambles, we could use the help, why not a $787 billion stimulus? We could create 500 times more jobs!
Seriously though, the stimulus program is sadly just the beginning of big government policies and wasteful spending in the bill.
This is where compromising your principles leads to. Democrats know that if they can get you to break with conservative principles on one issue, then they’ve got their teeth into you and can break you on other issues.
This is how the man who beat Charlie Crist on the issues of stimulus and amnesty comes to support stimulus and amnesty.
This is why we ask conservatives to fight and cringe when we hear they are working on compromises.
Let’s hope this doesn’t end with Rubio hugging Obama at the signing of this big government stimulus and immigration bill.
