On Monday, Politico reported that "With immigration, Marco Rubio risks DC insider label." Rubio, of course, has put a lot of chips on the table in trying to push for immigration reform for undocumented immigrants. And I've got one piece of advice for Senator Marco Rubio on this issue: run to the establishment. Run to it as much as you can.

I've quoted "Cedric", but I'm actually addressing this to other members of the forum.

If one posts on forums long enough, they're likely to run into all kinds of people with all kinds of issues. Granted, there is obviously a high level of anonymity (for example, I've chosen the male name "Rufus" but for all anyone knows, I could be a teen aged girl. Or an 80 year old man.). But at the same time - given enough time and material - poster's patterns DO emerge and we can begin to form rudimentary opinions of them - based on what they've posted.

On that basis, I've formed an opinion of "Cedric" that he is a GOP shill. Fair or not, that's what I've done.

Now obviously, I like discussing politics or I wouldn't be here. And, I've concluded, a large contributing reason we as a nation are in such a mess is DEM and GOP partisanship. I used to respond to "war" on other forums. Now for those of you who do not know, "war" was a huge democrat shill. But he was entertaining, at times. But at the end of the day, it was a waste of time engaging him - basically because he had a closed mind.

Now, nothing against "Cedric" personally (I do not know him), but he appears to be a counterpart of "war" - i.e. a GOP shill. And I just don't have the desire to interact with shills - be they of the Dem or GOP variety.

Since I am posting this on a thread about Marco Rubio, let me bring the point home.

Marco Rubio was a Tea Party candidate. He WAS NOT the choice of the GOP establishment when he ran for the Senate - Charlie Crist was. Against great odds, Rubio defeated Crist in a primary, then went on to win (again, with huge Tea Party Support)

Now fast forward to today. It appears this once promising young Tea Party person - Rubio - is about to sign on to this suicidal immigration pact that the GOP establishment is hellbent on shoving down our throats.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think that is an interesting political development that is worthy of intelligent comment. Not just "Rah Rah GOP my party right or wrong" crap.

I'll close by saying I thought "Cedric" and I had an agreement we would simply ignore each others posts. I will ignore his. I hope he can ignore mine.

I am only taking this route (of addressing others) on the forum so it won't look as if "Cedric" has made a point that is so "brilliant" I cannot respond to it. But beyond that, people will think what they will.

Not much I can do about it.

Bravo Rufus!

Marco Rubio IMO is the poster boy for a candidate (in this case previous Tea Party candidate) who gains a tremendous amount of support from the conservative base, then does a 180 when he gets to Washington.

This seems to be happening all across the country over and over. Is it the water? Are they being threatened when they get there, families threatened, bribed? I don't know what is going on.

The one thing I do know based on observation, is when we vote, we have to look at (no exceptions) voting records and track records of what these candidates have actually done in Washington, not get sucked in by speeches and what they 'may claim' they will do. And when they commit unconstitutional actions they must not be re-elected. And those who would shill for these un-constitutional acts simply because of an R after their name must be called out and given no further credibility in political discussions.
