The last few weeks haven't been kind to the Obama administration, as compounding scandals continue to batter the president's brand. Public disapproval now outpaces approval on his job performance and his handling of almost every issue. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves:
The president has done quite a lot of talking about guns and healthcare this year. Those PR pushes don't appear to be paying dividends. The immigration number is interesting, too. The only topic on which the president earns net positive marks is terrorism (+11). On scandal-related topics, the news doesn't get much better for Obama:
Zitat(10) Do you approve or disapprove of how Barack Obama is handling the government’s classified surveillance program that collects the phone and Internet records of U.S.citizens? Approve 32% Disapprove 61%
(11) Do you approve or disapprove of how Barack Obama is handling the situation surrounding the IRS targeting of conservative groups? Approve32% Disapprove 55%
Finally, respondents were asked whether Congress should continue investigating the following stories:
ZitatIRS targeting of conservatives: 73 percent yes, 24 percent no. DOJ spying on journalists: 70 percent yes, 26 percent no. The Benghazi terrorist attacks: 71 percent yes, 27 percent no.
Also on Benghazi, fully 69 percent of Americans believe President Obama should have ordered a military rescue mission during the attack. I wonder what percentage of the public realizes that the administration knows the identities and locations of several Benghazi perpetrators, but won't detain them due to a political obsession with trying terrorists in civilian courts.
