In the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin trial verdict, there were plenty of athletes weighing in on the controversial decision.
One of them was Giants wideout Victor Cruz, who, along with plenty of others, were unhappy about what transpired.
“Zimmerman doesn’t last a year before the hood catches up with him,” Cruz Tweeted before later deleting it.
The tweet was caught by the website Deadspin, though, and aggregated among plenty of others written by NFL players.
The Falcons’ Roddy White, for example, tweeted: “All them jurors should go home tonight and kill themselves for letting a grown man get away with killing a kid,” before issuing an apology later on.
Earlier Sunday, Cruz decided to apologize as well:
“My tweet last night was my initial interpretation of the reaction I was reading on twitter,” Cruz wrote. ”I immediately realized my tweet was a mistake and I apologize, that’s why I deleted it.
If the NFL doesn't get it together to at least put a muzzle on their thugs, they are going to watch a lot of fans walk away (much like the NBA) and focus more on the college games.

I've already walked away. As much as I love football, I refuse to follow the National Felons' League (phrase coined by someone other than me).
I'm still watching college football, but since it's the farm league for the NFL, I don't know how long that will last.
I used to love to watch sports, but I'm so sick of these thugs and gangbanger wannabess parading around in their tattoos and piercings I stopped watching years ago. They seem to have taken over just about every sport.
Forget it, I've got better things to do.

I blame the NFL and Goodell for this. They should have stamped this out years ago instead of just allowing thug behavior to continue without consequences. They needed to put rules in place that any activity that embarrassed or cheapened the NFL brand would result in expulsion or heavy fines. Instead, they just let these thugs just take over.

The youth attire, caps, jewelry, etc. were inspired by black pimps from 20-30 years ago.
That strata of American society is the fad-setter for your children, grandchildren, etc.
And since adolescence extends into the 30s and even beyond, you see professional athletes making millions, looking like pimps and gangsters.
I remember being introduced to Ram running back, Ollie Matson in the tunnel at the Los Angeles Coliseum. I remember Rafer Johnson speaking in my HS auditorium.
When my brother was a college gymnast he met Kareem Abdul-Jabbar when he was plain old Lew Alcindor. He told me they had a pleasant chat and he was a total gentleman...and very TALL.
Those were the days.
