No one will ever sell me on the fantasy Romney was no better than Obama. I wasn't in his corner until it was clear he was going to be the candidate, that's what got me banned from FR, lol.
Same here but I didn't get banned from FR. First I liked Newt, who talked great conservatism and then he skewered himself as a poor sport. Then I liked Mr Pizza 9-9-9, who also soon met the buzz saw. This wasn't the way it was supposed to be, having Romney emerge as first. But Romney vs Obama? no contest as far as I'm concerned. Romney was far better and full of experience running ailing companies to success. I know Frank liked Santorum but honestly that sweater vest image and his conservative Christian attitude didn't go over as presidential to me. [and I am a conservative Christian]

No. They came late to the dance and now think half measures like Romney will save things. He would have been a disaster. You think he was going to stop Zerocare? He stated quite clearly that he had no intention of really repealing the law. He wanted to tinker around the edges. Rick Santorum was 100% correct when he said in the Primaries that nominating Romney would eliminate the #1 issue the GOP had to beat Zero with. Hell, Zero went up the Thanial Hall last week to revive the ghost of Romneycare. Pathetic.
That thing next to his leg in his Gov portrait is Romneycare. He insisted on it being there since it was his proudest moment in office.
Just as a reminder, lets review some of the reasons people walked away from the GOP since 2004.
Bush pushed LOST (Law Of The Sea) Treaty Bush pushed Harriet Myers Bush pushed Amnesty Bush did nothing to stop spending on any level Tarp GM Bailouts
The real reason: Dennis Hastert's weak and unprincipled lack of leadership.

I didn't like the holy roller stuff either (I'm a Pagan), but he was the only candidate talking to blue collar voters like Reagan did in the 70's. Selling Conservatism to union workers who have been shafted after paying all those dues and ditch diggers who are getting the shaft from cheap labor pimps.
BTW, I wore my Santorum vest just this week. It's super cool.
Cruz fought. The GOP leadership didn't. If you fight you might lose. If you don't you won't win. Cruz bloodied Obama's nose -- have you seen HIS poll numbers -- and the Senate Democrats noses. More importantly he made it clear to the nation as to who are the ones that are truly madly deeply against O'Care. It is not Lindsay Graham, and how are his poll numbers, btw.
Make your time. I am a Drum Major for Justice, Peace, and Righteousness. Beware the battle cattle but don't fear the battle cattle.
I love my wife but she has no interest in politics whatsoever. When we watched debates she repeatedly identified Santorum as the one she like the most.

No entirely true Boehner, "We just didnt win"
It was not the leadership it was the majority. Graham, King (NY), McCain were shown for the liberal Republicans that they are but many others fought and many others who thought a different route was the way to go does not make them traitors or any less conservative.

If someone is given the choice between bashing Harry Reid or bashing Ted Cruz and chooses to bash Cruz, I'm not going to trust them.
Now, there were Republicans who were cool to the brinkmanship -- including my own congressman -- but didn't vilify those who made a stand. I'm not going to hold it against them. In fact, I agree they have to be defended. In fact, if Graham ends up winning the nomination in S.C., I guess I'll even support his return over whatever Dem. But what I find revealing is the willingness for Graham/McCain et al to attack Cruz & Paul & Lee while treating Obama, Reid and Pelosi as their best buds, and it's not something I'm going to forget.

well put!
Steve Schmidt, a former adviser to Sen. John McCain recently made headlines by saying......A Lot Of Republicans 'Wish Ted Cruz Would Go Back To Canada' http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/01..._n_4190918.html [in case you're interested] He didn't name names but he did manage to evidence that there's an extreme dislike for Ted Cruz among his fellow Republicans.
