Virginia candidate for state delegate Kathleen Murphy wants all doctors to be forced to accept Medicare and Medicaid.

FYI last night at the Great Falls Grange debate, Democrat delegate candidate Kathleen Murphy said that since many doctors are not accepting medicaid and medicare patients, she advocates making it a legal requirement for those people to be accepted.

She did not recognize that the payments are inadequate to cover the doctors’ costs. She also did not recognize there is a shortage of over 45,000 physicians now and that it is forecast to be 90,000 in a few years.

Democrats appear to want to make physicians slaves of the state, but Democrats don’t admit they would just drive more doctors out of practice into retirement and other occupations. The Obamacare law and regulations are causing millions of people to lose their health insurance, drop many doctors and hospitals. The HHS internal forecast is 93 million Americans would lose their health insurance due to the Obamacare law and rules about adequacy of insurance.

Many more people will be uninsured. The penalties for being uninsured start at $95 per year, but the penalties can’t be collected by the IRS if a person does not have a tax refund to attach.
The out of pocket costs required by Obamacare’s Silver Plan for a non-smoking mother and father with two children making a gross before income taxes of $50,000 (roughly average salary for VA) would be $13,765 per year including the deductible of $10,400. That’s 28% of their gross income — not very affordable and about the same as guidelines for a mortgage payment. For such a family making $100,000 of gross income, The cost would be $21,431 including the deductible of $12,700, or 21% of gross income.

I read this this morning. Do they want to tell every buisness what to charge..and whether they should take credit cards or not, etc etc.

Doctors are intelligent people..with a good education...that cost them a fortune. How many do you think will stick around in that profession?

When Obamacare first started to be discussed, around the first summer he was president...in looking for info and articles, I came across some forum for doctors. Because I could read without joining, I decided to read. These drs were all against obamacare, because they too, saw what would happen. Some were saying they would retire, others said they couldnt keep their practices opened..and one guy was telling them about these offers from other countries (mostly middle eastern) who were offering top salaries (cant recall how much) but they would get an 8 hour, 5 day work week..and a couple of yearly vacations, where they would pay for their visits back to the USA.

And this is what is going to happen to our medical professionals, in the country that "had" the best medical care in the world. They are going to be GONE.

A visit to my GP, down the road here..has you waiting almost two hours..with an appt...but, she gives you a lot of time..you never feel rushed. It was the same when her father was alive, he was our first dr when we moved here, but passed away. He had 2 hour waits, too. Because she is so local, we can go sign in..and come back home for the wait..lol I am just wondering what kinds of waits there will be in the future.

So...then what happens..when there are little to no doctors...with outrageous waits...and nobody can pay their premiums..and everything is about as screwed up as it can be? Single payer? With what drs? Is Obama going to don the white coat?

Pete..the point is..these doctors study long and hard. Their educations run in the hundred thousands of dollars. They then begin as interns and work more than they sleep. Their rewards are...they help sick people while making lots of money. It used to be...wanna be rich? Be a doctor. No more. Between the staff they have to hire to fill out these forms, call insurance companies, etc..and their malpractice insurance..these doctors no longer make the money people seem to think they do. Dont you think these men and woman who save lives deserve to make money? Or do you think they should get the same pay as a walmart worker..or a plumber? I dont see anyone complain about how much money these idiotic movie and sports star make. Why should people begrudge these doctors, who worked long and hard to get where they are..and are doing something valuable..like saving lives. Yours, maybe even.

Nobody should be telling them what they HAVE to do. Some doctors already take NO insurance..its cash only. Expect to see more of that. And if they ever force them to do charity work (because..it is hardly worth it for them to take medicaid who pays little and makes them wait forever)..you wont be seeing many doctors anymore....they will just turn to some other field that isnt govt regulated (for now).
