As if we haven’t had enough trouble with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) referring to principled conservatives as “wacko birds” and claiming not to understand why anyone would want to filibuster an unconstitutional gun control bill, now Rep. Peter King (R-NY) is getting in on the act:

Echoing the sentiments of Sen. John McCain, a leading House Republican on Tuesday blasted the increasingly popular idea of filibustering any gun control measures in the Senate.

Rep. Peter King, New York Republican, said that he supports universal background checks for all gun purchases, but even if he didn’t, he’d oppose plans to block the measure from even coming up for debate or for a vote.

Indeed, rather than standing on principle, better to just let Barack Obama and this fellow socialists in the Democratic Party have their way with our constitutionally-guaranteed civil rights in the name of “bipartisanship.” Really, what is the use of even having an opposition party if it won’t actually oppose?

I'm sure Karl Rove will issue another memo advising the GOP to roll over on gun control NOW so that they can wield more power later to fight it...just like he advised for the budget and every other thing the GOP rolled over for.

Mr. King, have you read the 2nd Amendment? Do you realize it is a check on YOUR power?

I absolutely detest John McCain. He might be a war hero but these are different times. He's trying to allow a foot in the door of eventually abolishing the second amendment.
It will be so great when he retires & I hope he takes all the crusty old men with him like Peter King.

Legislative fiat (which is exactly what these "bills" are) is unconstitutional and these bills should never see the light of day. That is why we should encourage them to be stopped cold. (The tyranny of democracy is not a valid process to amend the Constitution.)
