So calling members stupid, dense and admitting to being condescending towards posters is okay? It was the personal attacks that I addressed.

I wasn't coddling as much as nipping the insults. If there were any other posters doing the same here towards another member I would address the personal attack. Perhaps TBL would have succeeded had the personal attacks been dealt with early on. They weren't and they only grew to where every thread is nothing but a bash fest.

Steph, not sure who that was addressed to, but, no, you seemed to be doing very well and taking care of business, IMHO.

I was just clarifying things. I don't want to overstep if at all possible. I just think that we have had thousands of posts where people are respectful even when disagreeing and it's nice.

Oh and for the record, we are far from being an Oprah site here. Just sayin'

FWIW, I had two thoughts about this "map" as soon as I heard about it (aside from the main thought that it was an asinine stunt by the newspaper):
1. Houses not marked as having a registered gun owner would become more likely targets in a given neighborhood, all else being equal.
2. Criminals looking for guns would likely start to case marked houses for an opportunity to break in and steal guns.

I'm really sorry this thread turned into the first "clash" of personalities on this forum and even sorrier that I was involved.

ml/mj took an instant dislike to my opinion and it went downhill from there. We should be able to disagree with one another without being condescending. Actually, we don't need a forum where we have to be afraid to say what we think, but it's how we say it that matters.

As for my making a "hundred useless posts a day"....I'm at home right now with a handicapped child so I do spend quite a bit of time on the board.
"Einstein Olivia" needs to slow it down a bit but I've never claimed to be the "brightest bulb in the pack."

They don't keep stats on what the MSM reports (or doesn't report) about home break-ins so I think it really is a moot point.

This has only become an issue since the gun owner database has been published.
