I thought about what you said here, I guess that I still consider myself to be a "patriot" in that I still love the Country as it was founded, even though we've spiraled away from that for so long. I certainly can't say that I have any love for this government, in fact I despise almost every aspect of it.

I would quibble with the "lost the war" part though. We lost a huge "political" battle in 2012, but I don't think that we've seen the real "war" begin yet. When that "animated contest" begins in earnest, it won't be pretty, and it will be nothing that any of us has ever wanted to occur in our worst nightmares. I think that there are many of us though that have reached the point where we would rather face that horror sooner, rather than later, so that we don't continue for the rest of our natural lives in a prolonged and ever worsening situation, and that maybe some of our younger children/grandchildren can at least live out the latter portion of their lives in a better world than they have been brought into.

But yes, our true freedom, victory, and the "peace that surpasses all understanding" comes only through our Savior, not any politician.

Yes. I'm still a patriot for the country as it was founded, but how in the world do we get it back when 51% of the country wants Obama-socialism-free toys rather than freedom?

I'm looking at the 'war' as the long planned Progressive battle to take over America. It began more than a hundred years ago, progressed gradually with a huge bump under FDR, took over the schools and academia completely in the last 50 years, controls the media, Hollywood, pop culture, large corporations, church governments (with far left agendas) - every aspect of our country.

The crowning glory of the Communist/Progressive agenda in America is the presidency of Barack Obama. The apathy, ignorance and brainwashing of generations of Americans is complete. Communism is now considered to be mainline and Constitutionalism "extreme." Obama's radical agenda is considered to be as "American" as apple pie.

I would love to be proven wrong, but I don't think we can ever win this political battle, and I don't think that it can be won in my remaining years unless there is a Great Awakening.

I don't mean to be a downer, but I do think we've lost the war.

No, we have not yet lost that war, but I'm guessing that it won't be won or lost in my lifetime, unless it escalates quickly.
