I know that women have been doing that for ages, I can't recall some of the more famous ones. I never understood why, can anyone explain why that process is done?
(I guess that I can understand if they get burned off somehow, but beyond that, why is it done?)

Beats me, I think it either gives a person a fake look or a devilish look (i.e. Moochelle) but I know lots of women do that.

If a woman dislikes the shape and texture of her eyebrows she will attack them with tweezers and wax to remove the offending hairs.

When young girls are learning about this process they run into the problem of trying to get both sides to look even. The results can be quite comical. Because once too much hair is removed from the left side, the right side needs to be altered. Sometimes the girls end up with little left to work with so they have to "draw" eyebrows on their faces. With restraint and practice they can learn how to groom their eyebrows without wrecking their faces.

I suspect Michelle Obama hates her natural eyebrows and removes all traces of them because of this. That she draws new ones on is natural. She would look like a monster without eyebrows on her face.

Yeah, I've never known anyone personally that does it, but I've seen them on TV for decades. I always thought they looked rather bizarre, except with a full circus clown face!
