If more sane people took the time to start reading what the more extreme wing of the party is advocating they would run away. I know I'm thoroughly disgusted with it myself. They aren't conservatives, the more extreme of the party are theocrats. They are doing a bang up job in driving away the fiscal cons in droves.

Actually if you get out of the bubble the answer is quite simple. The GOP base is moving so far right that many demographics are running the other way. Scapegoating a couple people will not solve the problem. Seriously, Akin killed the momentum with his utterly stupid comments about legitimate rape. And it isn't just about the economy. It's about the political gifts that the Democrats can bestow upon the electorate. While I enjoyed poking fun at Sandra Fluke, I didn't realize how politically astute the Democrats were at using her. Because that issue won, didn't? The party got the birth control coverage that they wanted. And I don't think she is a joke anymore.

That entire episode should be a huge lesson and not swept under the rug because my God, you're looking at a bunch of Conservatives calling her a slut. Well, SHAME ON US, because we're supposed to be better than that, aren't we?

Aren't we supposed to be bigger than that?

Well we aren't smarter if we can look at a doofus like Mitt Romney and think that he can beat Barack Obama in today's day and age. We deserved to lose. We need a better candidate next time. If we don't get one, we deserve to lose again.

1. Nothing complicated about birth control: Women who use it should pay for it.

2. The notion that birth control is or will be "damn near impossible to get" is laughable.

3. Abstinence works 100% of the time it's employed.

4. The "group of people (who) don't want abortion" don't want babies killed in the womb and many would love to adopt the "kid".

I'm not saying why, Musiclady, I'm just looking at the numbers. I voted for Romney, and encouraged others to.

But, it is a fact that many people saw Romney as more of the same and refused to vote for him. The point being, that it may be a winning strategy to run someone who is at least somewhat conservative.

In all my connections within the Republican party, the pro-life movement and social conservatism, I've not seen evidence of that anywhere.

(Remember that the left accused President Bush of wanting a theocracy on a regular basis, and that was absurd).
