Afghansitan was just soemthing we "had to do" on the way to Iraq (plus, it was a great staging area and supply depot).

It was a matter of survival.
The war in Afghanistan and the subsequent invasion of Iraq moved the front from the United States to the Middle East and kept the ragheads occupied on their own turf and too busy to commit acts of terror on our soil. One can only guess what might have happened here had this not been done, but 9/11 is a good indicator and I believe what was only the first wave in a series of planned attacks.

WAR AND TAXES - no bigger issues to get passed by Congress. I would say on both issues, Bush had to mobilize public opinion to gain the upper hand with Congress !!

Relocating troops and equipment when their mission has changed or was completed is not the same a "supplies" which is what your original post said. Stop making stuff up.
