Under Brownie trucks with badly needed supplies sat for days in surrounding states. FEMA clearly fell down on the job.

FWIW I heard some stories over the weekend critizing the Federal response ot Sandy, in spite of Governor Krispy Kreme's comments.

But that doesn't negate the fact that Bush was warning LA before the storm and providing help immediately after (which the Gov of LA refused).

The hysteria that it was Bush's fault was a complete lie, as was the refusal to cover the Gov and Mayor's fault in the mess.

And Fox was complicit in it.

I think this is just one pixel that is part of a much larger picture.

What is the larger picture? It is the flat out inability or refusal of the GOP to defend itself. And it's been going on for years. I remember noticing it during the Gore/Bush campaign. I have forgotten the specific charge (it was something along the lines of the usual democrat pap that republicans hate women, children and little puppies), but the Gore team and his comrades in the media put it out there - and Bush and the republicans NEVER responded.

A bogus charge that is never responded to becomes - especially in the minds of LIVs - an ACCURATE charge.

G.W. Bush just dedicated his library, and most of us allowed that he's a fine, decent man. Unlike Zero, who takes credit for EVERYTHING that is positive, and assigns blame for everything that is negative, Bush is reluctant to take credit and is quick to accept blame.

But there comes a point - especially given the fact that republicans in any campaign always fight an uphill battle against the media - where the gloves HAVE to come off.

There's a lot of criticism on this board against those of us who point out the deficiencies of the GOP.

My response - until the GOP starts telling us WHAT they stand for and DEFENDING what they say they stand for, I'm not going to waste MY time defending them.

Yes. The media opposes the GOP. During my lifetime, it always has - and it probably always will.

The DOES NOT excuse republican candidates from using paid advertising or friendly media from to inform us (and LIVs) what they stand for. It does not excuse them from telling us HOW they differ from dems.

Reagan was able to do this - WITH NO alternative media.

But then, Reagan (unlike most contemporary GOPers) had actual principles, and a vision.

Oh, I'm listening all right. I turn on any of the Sunday shows and all I hear is McClown or his puppet Graham trashing small government conservatives. I go to the Drudge report and see Krispy Kreme praising Zero to the skies.

The MSM "wised-up" after Reagan.

Reagan - for years and years - built up his "bona-fides" as a conservative. Did you ever hear of his speech for Goldwater at the '64 convention? And then, during the 70's, he had a regular commentary on the radio espousing conservative ideals.

I don't believe the "MSM" had anything to do with it. And there's nothing to prevent anyone from doing that - i.e. building his/her bona-fides - today.

Like giving missiles to Iran, raising taxes and signing pro-abortion legislation (as CA Governor)?

NOW who's expecting perfection, hmmm? And his views on abortion (as he later addressed) went from "pro-choice" to "pro-life" - unlike ALL dems and most modern day GOPers who's views have migrated the exact opposite way.
