Jimmy LaSalvia, the founder of the conservative gay advocacy group GOProud, has officially announced his departure from the Republican Party.
“Today, I joined the ranks of unaffiliated voters. I am every bit as conservative as I’ve always been, but I just can’t bring myself to carry the Republican label any longer,” LaSalvia wrote. “You see, I just don’t agree with the big-government ‘conservatives’ who run the party now.”

Can you be so sure? How do you determine which candidate another votes for? Which party they vote for? Maybe he won't vote. No has to vote. It's a right, not a mandate.

His point is that the Republican party is tolerant of bigotry. I guess he is saying that he could not moderate the Republicans to a position that he found acceptable.
Yeah, he can move on.
But what I find interesting is that as the nation changes young people do not see homosexuality as "hill to die on" issue. They pick different battles than their parents did.
And this is where more moderation comes in, not more conservatism. The young people will vote and change things in ways I cannot even imagine.

No,he doesn't. He can vote for an Independent candidate,or any other candidate. Even one with a R behind his name if he wants.
He's just not drinking the alleged Republican Kool-Aide anymore, and not voting a straight party ticket.
Good for him!

If you don't complain to them about the way they are doing things, you lose your right to complain about the way they do things.
You will never get change by voting for more of the same.
