I read an article yesterday that the Millenials support it by 70%. According to Pew the Millenials will be 39% of the voting demographic in 2016.

That shift also extends to young conservatives and those that identify as Republicans, Dimock says, a group whose support for same-sex marriage has nearly doubled in the past 10 years.

"The trajectory is happening across party lines [and] across religious lines," he says.

Why not put the whole thing up for a vote next year and see if the polls are right. Of course they will not because they do not believe in the peoples voice.

I don't know about that.

I see kids whose families have wandered away from church attendance. I don't know that this means that they have entirely rejected Christianity.

In the past two weeks my daughter has taken eight middle school and high school kids from school and the neighborhood that she knows to church. Their parents aren't attending but the kids want to be there. They do.

If kids in high school and college were welcomed with an friendly face to come to church, they would probably do it.

Evangelism is not easy... if that is what we want to call it. But in today's world where people are so distant from each other, it is hard to just walk up and invite someone to join you. It really is.

That's why kids can do it easier.

Maybe the churches themselves, not an encompassing Christian network, need to get out where they young people are. We can all do more to spread the faith. Myself included.

There are some churches out there that is not caught up in the politics but they are very few and far between.

We each seek different things in church. What I seek would probably be much different than you.

I wasn't raised in church. I'm uncomfortable with some of its structure. Not because I believe the structure is wrong but because I don't know where I fit into it all of the time. It's a personal thing.

If we look at church as the place of worship where we go to express our love for God and keep centered on that, it might be easier to toss out the extra stuff that shouldn't be there.

We have discipleship classes of many different levels. We discuss worldly issues. Even politics.

But I don't feel that there is a political presence in my church. I know how maybe a handful of people may vote, but the rest? Ah! I'm not going to guess! I don't want to offend them. I could be looking at a school teacher who is very pro-union, pro-government education, pro-government aid to children who are come from struggling families and I could really tick her off. She might believe in social justice. She may not see it as I do.

But this woman and I can come together in faith. And we try to. We may not understand each other that much. But we look to each other as fellow believers in Christ.

But another way that my experience differs is that I came to the Southern Baptist church via my husband's Christian family whose father was a pastor. I don't believe he would have tolerated politics in the churches that he established.

I would say that in looking back I understand what happened. But it hasn't influenced my world view. And I would reject any Republicanism in church just as I would reject Pat Robertson without giving it a second thought. I put a lot of consideration into which church I belong to because I need to trust their leadership with helping me grow in my faith. In the two churches I have belonged to during my marriage neither one has allowed a political presence to take root.

Jesus did not come here for a political solution on earth. I don't expect one to develop that will save us all.

My experience is the exact opposite.

I visit a lot of evangelical churches and have never encountered one "cauhgt up" in politics.

Quite to the contrary, I think (white) churches have been cowed by the IRS into abandoning their legitimate and necessary funtion in that arena.

And it shows.
