Proponents of gay marriage, as they eagerly anticipate the Supreme Court’s examination of the issue next week, are chortling over recent polls that suggest the American public’s resistance to it is fast eroding. They pointed this week to a Washington Post-ABC News poll in which 58 percent of Americans support gay marriage and 37 percent oppose it. This is an almost exact reversal from a decade ago, they say, when polls then showed 55 percent of Americans opposed gay marriage and 37 percent supported it.

Meanwhile, establishment Republicans, who have always been ambivalent about the issue, appear ready to wave the white flag. “Quite literally, the opposition to gay marriage is dying off,” claims columnist George Will. Columnist Michael Barone reports that “at the Conservative Political Action Conference, a panel sponsored by the Competitive Enterprise Institute drew a large and approving crowd for a discussion labeled ‘A Rainbow on the Right: Growing the Coalition, Bringing Tolerance Out of the Closet.’”

I fail to get upset over gay marriage, sorry. Either way, in the bigger scheme of things, it just doesn't matter.

Polling of this type is so bogus, why anyone believes this garbage I do not understand. You pay me and I will run a poll and you can tell what results you want up front. It is as bogus as a feasibility study, the gsy crowd is less than 5% of the population but the liberal press would have you believe have of the country is perverts.

I read an article yesterday that the Millenials support it by 70%. According to Pew the Millenials will be 39% of the voting demographic in 2016.

The U.S. Supreme Court hears two important cases this week on the on same-sex marriage, an issue that a new poll says young Americans support in ever larger numbers.

Some of that shift in national polling is due to the increasing impact 18 to 32 year olds, known as the millennial generation, have on American politics. Among that age group, support for same-sex marriage is at an all-time high of 70 percent, according to the latest Pew Research poll.

Michael Dimock, director of Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, tells Don Gonyea, host of weekends on All Things Considered, that the pace at which millennials back gay marriage has rarely been matched.

"You saw radical transformations in American attitudes about race in the '60s, '70s and '80s," Dimock says, "this isn't inherently unprecedented, but for the past decade or so this is certainly one of the biggest shifts we've seen."

That shift also extends to young conservatives and those that identify as Republicans, Dimock says, a group whose support for same-sex marriage has nearly doubled in the past 10 years.

"The trajectory is happening across party lines [and] across religious lines," he says.

I think parents are aware of this when they look at their children.

I think that as American families broke down they had a hard time telling their children right from wrong. The children don't believe their parents.

The Millenials believe in a whole lot of stuff that they will change their minds on when they grow up. Do you think that they will still be doing "Rainbow Parties" when they are in their 30's and 40's?

If they aren't educated within the home and within a religious faith and then they are cast out into the world unarmed they are unable to understand what they see.

If this is the case, then there is no room for religion at all. These responses from kids about why they are leaving show they have no faith and faith is the only reason to be in church. If everyone is sitting around saying that they would go to church, but they don't like that they can't get a hand job in the parking lot before the service because all the fuddy duddies look poorly on it, all is lost.

Getting kids excited about church by it embracing hedonism is a joke. It's like having AA meetings with an open bar for the semi alcoholics.

Their parents need to find a better church. Not all churches are equal. Not all churches serve the entire family well. One of the saddest things I heard was when a mother said she was at our church but her kids were at another across town, by choice.

What did our church do? We replaced the youth minister.

We demand a lot of our youth minister. And his number one goal is turning these kids into adult believers who will leave his ministry and be able to walk into another church when they go to college and be grounded in their faith before they enter that new sanctuary. He wants them to be Christians for life. And he, and the parents, take this very seriously.

We don't fall for the latest fad. We don't run away from technology. We don't mock the culture. We know that we don't always fit into it but we also know that this is where we live and we have to be able to function as Christians amongst fellow citizens who will never believe as we do. The idea is for discipleship to grow with each believer so that he is armed with self-knowledge and Biblical principles.

It isn't just about sitting in the pew on Sunday. It takes an investment of time and effort from everyone into the youth.
