I don't agree with my sitting senators 80% of the time. They are power-hungry, elitist fools who believe they know how to equitably carve up the 2nd Amendment. Why do they do this? Because the 2nd Amendment is a check on their power.

And my vote is a check against them.

I'll answer your question in two parts:
1. Obviously, the solution is to remove statists from the leadership and governance of this country, root and branch, regardless of party affiliation.
2. This process should have started around 100 years ago, so at this point I doubt that it is possible.

(And yes, it is a less than satisfactory answer to some, but it is my answer nonetheless.)

There was a study that came out, during the initial Obamamania period, before the 2008 election, which said that the way to win was to fire up the base, rather than attempt to capture the middle. I remember it being highly cited on DU.

Fact is that the GOP has been trying to capture the middle for a long time now and has failed.

Agree! May I add that statists should also be removed from the Republican party as of yesterday, not be defended continuously as some on this board would do.
