It's not that it is, or isn't, fun -- it is merely a symptom of a very severe problem.

By not standing up for the principles that it espouses, the GOP has made many enemies amongst its own base. Many of us are very frustrated that the party that many of us thought was a valid opposition to the statist destruction of our country, is proving to not be up to the task. One can argue about the real reasons and motivations that are behind this sell-out, but the fact remains that they have failed miserably in halting and turning back the oppressive tide of the federal leviathan, otherwise we wouldn't be at our current state of free-fall into oblivion. It sucks to come to the realization that there is only a small handful of people in DC that a freedom loving Constitutionalist American can believe are really on our side in a losing battle.

Hence the anger and bitterness that often comes to the surface in these discussions. It is what it is.

To be honest. I have not once read where anyone necessarily disputes that entirely. Obama is proof. But pointing out small positive steps her and there by the GOP is met with disgust. That's what infighting I'm asking about. Here in RR

Do you support the GOP because you believe they have solutions to address the ills of the country; or do you support the GOP because they're "your guys" (and gals.)?

If it's the former, could you provide a substantive example (not just a stopgap one) of where they've stopped the destruction that the democrats are putting on us?

But if it's the latter (and you're admitting that), then I thank you for your honesty and I'll tell you to "carry on" in your cheerleading of your team.

I provided examples (which I see you did not put in your quote) of minority democrats having success in preventing republicans from advancing our agenda. And I provided additional examples of republicans not fighting the democrats on their terms.

Look, I'm not going to fault you for being a GOP cheerleader. But I see the country as a burning house inferno, upon which the democrats are gleefully pouring gasoline.

And all I see the republicans doing is . . . . applying a little water from a squirtgun, around the edges.

Well if that is the case (potential, not current), then it doesn't make sense to cheer for the current crop such as McConnell and Boehner who have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are much, much more a part of the problem, rather than the solution. Unless you are just being humorous on that front.

I would too. It would be nice to be pleasantly surprised. However Rubio did not get where he is by being either stupid or naive.

[FYI 'doing it right' would be killing the bill, for real securing the border, denying all freebies to illegals and guest workers, encouraging self deportation, and requiring new immigrants to fully suport themselves, learn the language and adapt to our culture [not vice versa]. Anything else not only violates rule of law but is a major insult to both Americans and legal immigrants who stood in line and dealt with the bureaucracy.]

Rubio went full tilt supporting amnesty for the 30 - 40 illegals and a massive increase in guest workers.This would guarantee a statist government in perpetuity and the death of whatever is left of our economy and job market. He flat at lied about the bill's contents. Or, perhaps he went flat out full tilt for a bill that he didn't read and started dancing around his position when the contents of the bill leaked out. Either way Rubio is neither stupid or naive and is a p*ss poor argument for trusting or voting for the eGOP.
